About Me
How Perfect Platters by Julie came to be
My love for food runs deep.
Hi, I’m Julie and I am the founder of Perfect Platters by Julie!
I am married to Andy, and we have three adult children – Liam, Caitlin & Darcy.
I have been doing buffets and making cakes for friends and family for as long as I can remember. I’m a feeder!
I was given a love of food and entertaining through my Mum and Nina (Grandma), I think they gave up trying to teach me to sew and knit, and decided cooking and baking was more my niche.

The seed was planted...
One summer in our garden, my girls and their friends were sharing a chocolate pizza and some mini bite-sized treats, alongside
my homemade dipping sauce.
They were laughing about how they’d tried to make the sauce themselves whilst I was away and the huge failure they had had – they said it set solid after the first dip and resembled a famous fast-food gravy, ha-ha!
Caitlin then made a wild suggestion about setting up a business, selling jars of the sauce. The seed was planted…
And so it began.
After the sad loss of both of my amazing Mum and Nina, with a few health issues of my own thrown on top, I decided the best way of honouring them was to bite the bullet and just do it.
My first product was a chocolate dipping platter. I gave it to a few friends and family to critique - who doesn’t love a bit of constructive criticism!
A neighbour asked if I’d ever done a savoury one, I hadn’t, so I did… and they were able to sample the first one; the first one of many it would seem.

Making the move to full time.
In July 2024, I made the scary decision to quit a 25+ year career in childcare & education, and found a room to work from in September (cleaned, painted and filled it over the next few weeks)
I completed a few catering qualifications then put in an application to the council. Yikes!
My inspection went very well, and my door now proudly displays my 5 star hygiene rating.
The official launch.
On 22nd November 2024, I officially launched Perfect Platters by Julie.
I still do lots of dipping and savoury platters, but they are way outnumbered by graze tables and cheesecakes alongside lots of other food related treats.
